Winter atmosphere

"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show."
Andrew Wyeth

Once I read an article about how to find the soul of a garden. The author of that article expressed an idea saying that the soul becomes obvious just in winter when there are no leaves disturbing its expression.

Well, the truth is that places do look different in summer and in winter, no doubt about it. However, I am not so sure that only the bare winter appearance presents the soul.

I like all the disguises nature wears. One place can be either dull or prominent under different conditions such as light, time of the day, weather, season. Don't you think so?

  1. I was amazed by the way the trees came alive when the fresh snow fell--it was almost like a 3-d movie-I love winter as well--Great photos

  2. I agree Petra; the light can make such a difference to a scene we see, and the various seasons can also make the same place look very different.

  3. Winter is nice in some respects, but its always nice to see the spring arrive and all the flowers growing and the bird and nature activity that goes with it.
