When you are entering a building with a beautiful, prominent or impressive entrance door, you may find yourself full of expectations what will be shown to you behind that door. What marvels of architecture or refined taste you will see. Well, the door may or may not hide anything special but still, it brings something special itself or helps to create a great scene... I took the following photos during our last family holiday in different towns of the Czech Republic:

- an entrance portal of the benedictine cloister situated in the town Police nad Metují -

- a detail of the portal -

- a place of pilgrimage "Mountain of Mother of God" situated above the town Králíky -

- a door in the courtyard of the castle situated in the town Náchod -

- a door in the courtyard of the castle situated in the town Nové Město nad Metují -
An impressive series: I especially liked the abstractness of the second one and the the way it curved.
ReplyDeleteRuneE, thank you. I also like the detail, the person(s) who created the portal did very fine work.
ReplyDeleteThe entrance to the Benedictine cloister is just magnificent! I like the doorway in the castle courtyard too. I must atart taking more notice of doorways I think:)
ReplyDeleteThe Door is excellent great post
ReplyDeleteRowan, I wasn't inside the cloister but read that the inside looks much simpler than the magnificent entry. Interesting, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend paying attention to doorways! :-)
Picturit, thank you.
Fun theme. That last image made me think of The Secret Garden children's novel.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I guess I understand that connection. I find the last picture a bit mysterious, as if the decorative door ajar in the background of the flowers was inviting me to come and see unseen... :-)
ReplyDeleteDoors are such a mystery and we are invited to open and be drawn inside---its like a childs game, hide n seek.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Petra, I like the secretiveness of the last shot--
Sondra, thanks. I like the atmosphere of the last shot too.
ReplyDeleteI love doors and this set is, without going into to much detail, sheer perfection on that topic.
ReplyDeletedoors make for wonderful pictures!
